It’s National Bagel Day on Sunday, and to celebrate, Winnipeg Wildin has partnered with Bagelsmith to give back to the community.

For every bagel sandwich purchased, a bagel will be donated to Main Street Project. This is running THIS SATURDAY AND SUNDAY (YES, THIS WEEKEND).

You have to say “Wildin sent me” for a bagel to be donated! With each bagel donation, you’ll also receive a complimentary Wildin sticker for your contribution.

Main Street Project is a not-for-profit organization located at 661 Main Street. The organization assists those experiencing homelessness and addictions by providing Emergency Shelter, Van Outreach, Withdrawal Management and Supportive Housing services and programs.

Bagels for national bagel day

Why is there a National Bagel Day?

Bagels have a history that is richer than your favorite cream cheese spread! These rounds of dough can be found just about anywhere: breakfast joints, coffee shops, supermarkets, or even your kitchen pantry. In fact, 2018 saw more than 354 million bagels sold.

Bagels made the jump to North America in the 1800s and were hugely popular in New York city immediately. Since then, bagels have taken off to include an assortment of flours, toppings, dips, and smears.

Sooooo, on National Bagel Day:

Eat a Bagel: Head to Bagelsmith and order a bagel sandwich that’ll also help donate one bagel to Main Street Project.

Bake a Bagel: It’s a great activity!

Give a Bagel: Buying a bagel sandwich at Bagelsmith will donate one bagel to Main Street Project!
