Kanye West announces his redesign of McDonald’s food packaging

While many celebrities have teamed up with popular fast food brands this year to come up with new limited edition eats like Justin Bieber and Tim Hortons to create Timbiebs or Megan Thee Stallion and Popeyes teaming up for a sweet and spicy dipping sauce, appropriately named, The Hotties Sauce, Kanye West is taking things to a new direction. The 24-time Grammy winner returned to Instagram this week to post a packing redesign he’s been working on with fast-food chain McDonald’s.

The rapper has collaborated with Muji industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa for the redesign of a burger box. Fukasawa, a Japanese industrial designer, is behind the worldwide popular Muji stores that carry slick design from stationary to toothbrush holders. Kanye teased the work via his Instagram Stories hours before the post on May 23rd with the line, “Next week it’s the fries”, as a caption for the redesign photo.

Back in March, Kanye West, was banned from accessing Instagram for 24 hours, with Meta representatives claiming at the time the the rapper’s recent posts violated policies on hate speech, bullying and harassment.

Ye posted a photo of Trevor Noah’s Google search after the comedian made comments about the rappers divorce with Kim Kardashian, alongside with a caption containing racial slurs which led to the ban. That post has since been deleted and as he usually does, Kanye wiped his entire Instagram feed.

There is no no official word on when fans can expect the McDonald’s redesign to launch or whether it’s a permanent or limited edition change. It is also not known at this stage if the collaboration between Ye and the fast food chain will extend beyond the burger box or if an entire lineup of of packaging is coming down the pipeline.
